
Michael T. Ulbrich
Michael Ulbrich is currently President of New York Operations at EWI and President at Buffalo Manufacturing Works. Known for his extensive experience in industrial engineering, business development, operations, technology systems, finance, and team building, he has held simultaneous leadership roles in various sectors.
He is a Certified EOS Implementer® and Managing Partner and Owner of Midland Machinery. Michael works with leadership teams to help them clarify and execute on their vision and run a better business. He was previously President of Buffalo Manufacturing Works, a public-private partnership that provides technology development and advisory services to companies throughout the U.S. from 2014 until 2019. Prior to returning to Buffalo in 2013, Michael spent 10 years with J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. in New York City and in London, United Kingdom and Walt Disney World & Co. in Orlando, Florida. Prior to building Buffalo Manufacturing Works, Michael spent ten years in investment, banking, and lending services with J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. in New York City and London, United Kingdom. Michael’s responsibilities included managing complex relationships, building effective teams, and developing business opportunities amid one of the worst financial crises in history. His key achievement at the company was to pioneer and expand the company’s presence in Scandinavia, helping to establish the J.P. Morgan Private Bank, Nordic Region, where he served as Vice President. Prior to J.P. Morgan, Michael spent one year at Walt Disney World & Co. in Orlando, Florida working on operational planning, forecasting and productivity and process improvement projects. Michael is an engineer by training with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Lehigh University.
Michael is passionate about the future of Buffalo and serves as an active member of Empire State Development’s Western New York Regional Economic Development Council (REDC) and on the boards of the John R. Oishei Foundation and the Zoological Society of Buffalo, Inc. Michael has spoken at conferences and events on the subjects of entrepreneurship, innovation, technology, and increasing the competitiveness of smalland medium-sized enterprises. He is married with two daughters, an ardent family man, avid reader, nature lover, and lifelong learner.
