Investing in Organizational Power on Buffalo's East Side
Our Community Power-Building Framework recognizes that lasting financial prosperity is built by and with the people and communities most impacted by systemic inequities.
An important part of our framework focuses on strengthening Organizational Power by supporting the leadership, infrastructure, and systems that help community-rooted organizations sustain their impact, respond to community priorities, and create lasting change.
Master Your Nonprofit Numbers (MYNN) is one way that we invest in organizations on the East Side. Through two learning tracks—Foundations (101) for leaders building financial confidence and Strategy (201) for leaders ready to use financial information as a strategic tool—MYNN helps nonprofit leaders strengthen the knowledge, practices, and confidence needed to steward resources and build stronger organizations in service of their communities.

Master Your Nonprofit Numbers is led by Stephanie Skryzowski, a visionary Chief Financial Officer and founder of 100 Degrees Consulting, a firm that has supported hundreds of nonprofits around the world in building stronger, more sustainable organizations.
Stephanie brings over a decade of experience helping nonprofit leaders move beyond financial confusion and into confident, strategic decision-making. Her teaching style is approachable, engaging, and deeply practical—designed for real people juggling real nonprofit challenges, not just finance professionals.

This work is lead by Saira Siddiqui, Community Impact Program Director - Organizational Power at the Foundation. “By investing in the systems and leadership that sustain nonprofit work, we hope to support East Side organizations as they continue to serve, advocate alongside, and respond to the priorities of their communities. This is one of the Foundation's early investments in Organizational Power as we continue learning alongside partners about what meaningful support can look like in practice.”

FAQs
What level of engagement or time commitment is required?
We ask that participants attend all five full-day sessions in person. Each session involves live work inside your actual systems. There may be pre-work before a session to ensure we can work efficiently when you arrive. Expect to spend 30 to 60 minutes on pre-work before each session. Please bring your laptop and login to your accounting software as we may be working directly inside your accounting system during sessions. Between sessions, you may have action items to complete before the next session. Please be ready to ask questions and share experiences; the more openly you engage, the more you will get out of it
Who can join this series?
This cohort is open to nonprofit executive directors and staff of organizations located on or primarily serving Buffalo’s East Side.
Which of my team members would be eligible to join?
You can bring one additional person. This person can be anyone on your team who support you, or will be supporting you, with finances!
Is there really no cost for this series? How can it be FREE?
This series is offered at no cost to East Side nonprofit leaders as part of the Foundation’s commitment to strengthening the organizational infrastructure that supports East Side communities. By investing in nonprofit leaders, we are investing in the long-term sustainability of organizations working alongside residents every day.
Do I have to currently use or be familiar with Quickbooks to participate?
Nope! We will cover all the basics and meet you where you are.
Will there be a virtual option?
No, this series will be held entirely in person.
What are you looking for in the application?
We take applications to gather basic information about you and your organization that allows us to ensure that this program will serve your needs. Filling out your application fully and honestly will give us all of the background information that we need to customize the series content to those in the cohort.
Will we get to look at my nonprofit’s actual numbers or will I have to apply what I learn on my own?
Yes – we will go beyond theory and deal with your organization’s specific circumstances! After you apply, you will be asked to share your organization’s budget and financial reports. This will allow us to customize the sessions to your specific situation and address the actual questions and challenges that you are facing. You will also have the option for 1:1 coaching.
