The three-part series is part of a commitment to building the capacity of WNY nonprofit organizations
The John R. Oishei Foundation will host “Master Your Numbers,” a free program to build accounting and finance acumen in nonprofit organizations beginning in May. The program will include three workshops, a full day retreat, and coaching in both group and individual settings. The program is open to any nonprofit professional with responsibilities in financial management for their organization.
“Master Your Numbers” will be facilitated by 100 Degrees Consulting, a company that provides financial strategy and bookkeeping services to nonprofits around the globe. The first workshop will also include an introduction by Gerald Archibald of the Bonadio Group, who specializes in accounting and finance for nonprofit organizations.
Participants will be required to attend all workshops as each one is designed to build on the last. The program is designed to offer complete training, beginning with a self-assessment through goal setting and developing plans for the future. In addition to the in-person training, group and individual coaching will be available to assist with specific areas of inquiry for each participant.
According to Dr. Mark Scott, Vice President of Philanthropic Support at the Oishei Foundation, “Having a strong financial foundation is essential for any nonprofit to ensure compliance, understand revenue and cash flow, and to be able to adequately assess and plan. Many times, those who are responsible for these functions do not have accounting/finance backgrounds or they are handling other responsibilities and can use a full tool kit to help them be more effective and more efficient. This program will offer a comprehensive training on all the essentials.”
