What We Fund

We remain true to John R. Oishei’s original intent: To improve the lives of Western New York residents. Our focus areas—which often overlap—are broad enough to touch most Western New Yorkers in some way, and flexible enough to respond to urgent or changing needs.

Advance Education

We believe that all students should enter school ready to learn, be able to successfully graduate from college or post-secondary programs, and be prepared for the workforce.

Enhance Self-Sufficiency

We support efforts that focus on the individual by providing basic human needs, enhancing options for self-sufficiency, and empowering underserved communities.

Build Stable Neighborhoods

We promote strong, safe, stable neighborhoods that provide opportunities for all residents to thrive.

Promote Health

We focus on programs that serve at-risk and underserved populations, while helping our partners navigate changing healthcare systems.

Expand Arts & Culture

We stimulate economic development by attracting tourists and visitors, while integrating the arts into all of our focus areas.
